Announcements…

  • Sunday, September 21, there will be Regular Youth (Hillyer Live! at 4:00pm, Snack Supper at 6:00pm, and Youth at 6:30pm). If you were not able to make it to the parent meeting, it is very important that you stop by when dropping off your child and fill out a medical and permission form. Please bring your child’s insurance card and we will make a copy.
  • The Snack Supper Sign-up Genius is up and running! Please take a look to remember what you signed up for or to sign-up for a slot. Do not forget to call Ms. Polly by the Wednesday night before your supper night. Contact Susan Gray for questions.
  • Sunday, September 21, beginning at 9:50 am Peggy Churn will be leading a six week study called, “Teenology: The Art of Raising Great Teenagers.” We will read, discuss and share our experiences as we celebrate the teens that God has placed into our lives. If you RSVPed, we were able to cut the book cost down to $4 each. If you did not RSVP, there is still room! Please email Catherine.
  • Friday, September 26, if your child is attending the Regional Youth Fall Retreat, the Hillyer van will be leaving from the church at 4:00pm. Please send cash for your child to eat dinner on the way there and lunch on the way home. Not registered? Fill out this form and get it to Donna Moore with your $70 before September 19!!
  • Sunday, September 28, we are encouraging all youth to participate in Hillyer’s Centennial Dinner on the Grounds starting at 4:00pm. We know it will be a long weekend for youth and families, but this is a historical event that will only happen once! Dinner and entertainment with Copper’s BBQ and the Four Founders start at 5:00pm. Mark your calendar now and don’t forget to email your reservation to RSVP@hillyerchurch.org or call the church office at 919-832-7112.
  • Sunday, October 5, in the Fellowship Hall, following the 11:00am service, we will once again be packing meals for Stop Hunger Now. We need all volunteers. This will be the youth activity for this date. Stop Hunger Now is an international relief initiative that seeks to provide food to the world’s most vulnerable people. The meal packaging program uses volunteers to provide low-cost, healthy meals to the hungry in third world countries. Last year, Hillyer packed more than 10,000 meals for this project. This year we’re trying to top that.
  • Friday October 10-Sunday, October 12 is the All-Church Retreat. Registration is closed and there will be no youth that Sunday evening.
  • Sunday, October 26, Hillyer Youth will participate in the CROP Walk downtown Raleigh. Hillyer has been a steadfast supporter of CROP Walk since the first Raleigh walk sponsored by Church World Service in 1975. It has been an important outreach effort for our youth and congregation ever since. In honor of the Centennial, we have set a goal of 100 participants (walkers/donors). Our theme for this year is “Stop Hunger Cold.” If we meet our goal, the top adult fundraiser will have the opportunity to douse Rev. Mallory with a bucket of ice. The top youth fundraiser will be able to douse Rev. Campbell. Forms will be available Sundays following 11:00 a.m. worship beginning September 21. For more information, contact Scott Gray, Scott Dickinson or Courtney Biedell. Details about the schedule on the day of the even to come.
